How to Connect Claude to WhatsApp (No Code, 2-Minute Setup)
If your customers, suppliers and team all write to you on WhatsApp, you probably spend a big part of your day scrolling through chats. Once you connect Claude to your WhatsApp, you can just ask:
- "Who's waiting for a reply from me since yesterday?"
- "What did the supplier group decide about Friday's delivery?"
- "Tell Ana we have it in blue and I can deliver Thursday."
Claude reads your chats, finds what you need, and sends messages from your own number, but only when you ask it to.
This guide shows you how to set it up with WhatsApp MCP. You don't need to install anything, write code or get a new number, and it takes about two minutes.
What you need
- WhatsApp on your phone. Regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, with the number you already use.
- Claude. Claude desktop, claude.ai in your browser, the Claude mobile app or Cowork. You set it up once and it works in all of them.
- Two minutes, with your phone nearby.
You don't need a new phone number, Meta's WhatsApp Business API, a developer, or a server.
Step 1: Get your WhatsApp link
- Go to wa-mcp.com.
- Under Which AI do you use?, choose Claude.
- Click Generate my URL and copy the link.
Save the link somewhere safe, like a password manager or a private note. It's shown only once, and it works like a password: anyone who has it can use your WhatsApp. If you ever lose it, generate a new one and link the same phone. Your account and subscription carry over.
Step 2: Add the link to Claude
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Name it WhatsApp, paste your link and click Add.
That's it for Claude. Because connectors belong to your Claude account, WhatsApp now shows up on the desktop app, on claude.ai, in the mobile app and in Cowork.
Step 3: Link your WhatsApp
Open a new chat in Claude and type:
Connect my WhatsApp
Claude walks you through it and gives you two ways to link:
With a QR code (best if Claude is open on your computer)
- Claude shows you a QR code.
- On your phone, open WhatsApp → Settings (iPhone) or the ⋮ menu (Android) → Linked devices → Link device.
- Scan the QR code.
With a pairing code (best if you're using Claude on the same phone)
- Ask Claude for a pairing code instead and give it your phone number with country code.
- Claude gives you an 8-character code.
- In WhatsApp, go to Linked devices → Link device → Link with phone number instead, and type the code.
This is the same way WhatsApp Web links to your account. WhatsApp MCP shows up as a linked device, and you can remove it from that screen at any time.
Step 4: Try it
Start with a few questions to see how it works:
- "Who's waiting for a reply from me in the last 24 hours?"
- "Summarize my chat with Carlos from this week."
- "Find the address Laura sent me."
- "Tell Ana I'll be there at 7."
Before Claude sends anything, it checks the recipient and the message with you. Nothing goes out unless you ask for it.

What Claude can see after you link
When you link a new device, WhatsApp shares some of your recent messages with it, the same as when you open WhatsApp Web for the first time. From then on, every new message is available.
- Claude can read the recent messages in a chat, including what WhatsApp shared when you linked.
- Search covers messages that arrived after you linked, up to the last 90 days.
So if you link today, "What did we quote John last week?" may find nothing yet. A week from now it will.
How much it costs
- Free trial: 1 hour, no credit card.
- After that: US$15/month, US$13/month billed quarterly, or US$10/month billed annually. Every plan has unlimited use.
To subscribe, just ask Claude: "Subscribe me to WhatsApp MCP." It gives you a secure Stripe checkout link.
If something doesn't work
- The QR code expired. Ask Claude for a new one.
- Claude doesn't seem to know about WhatsApp. Start a new chat, and check that the WhatsApp connector is turned on in Claude's connectors menu for that chat.
- You lost your link. Generate a new one at wa-mcp.com, add it to Claude, and link the same phone. Your account and subscription carry over.
- WhatsApp disconnected after a while. WhatsApp unlinks devices if your phone hasn't been online for 14 days. Open WhatsApp on your phone, then ask Claude to connect again.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with WhatsApp Business? Yes. It connects to the number you already use, on regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. There's no new number and nothing to migrate.
Will my customers know Claude sent the message? No. Messages go out from your own number, exactly as if you had typed them.
Can this get my number banned? To WhatsApp, it's a normal linked device, like WhatsApp Web. As long as you don't use it to spam people, your number works normally. To help with that, sending the same message to several people is limited to 10 recipients at a time.
Does my phone need to stay on? No. Linked devices work on their own, so your phone can be off or offline. Just open WhatsApp on your phone at least once every 14 days.
Can I keep using WhatsApp on my phone as usual? Yes. Nothing changes on your phone.
Is my data private? WhatsApp MCP stores your messages only so Claude can search them, and deletes them automatically after 90 days. Your data is never sold or used to train AI models. The messages Claude reads are also processed by Anthropic under its own privacy policy, as with anything else you share with Claude.
Is this an official WhatsApp or Anthropic product? No. WhatsApp MCP is an independent product. It isn't made, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta or Anthropic.
Can I connect two numbers, like personal and work? Yes. Generate one link per number and add each one to Claude as its own connector, for example "WhatsApp Personal" and "WhatsApp Work". Each number needs its own subscription.
How do I disconnect or delete everything? Ask Claude to "unlink my WhatsApp", or remove the device under Linked devices in WhatsApp. To delete your account and data, ask Claude to "delete my WhatsApp MCP account". That also cancels your subscription. Your WhatsApp account and chats on your phone aren't affected.
