What is WhatsApp MCP?
WhatsApp MCP is an integration that connects your WhatsApp account to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Muse by Meta. It empowers your AI to summarize active threads, search past conversations, and draft or send replies when you ask, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What can my AI do with my WhatsApp?
Your AI can read and summarize your chats, find conversations waiting for your reply, search past messages, send messages and replies as you, written the way you usually write to that person, and open photos, voice notes and documents when you ask. Just talk to it naturally, like "What did Ana say about Friday?" or "Reply to Carlos that I'm running 10 minutes late."
Which AI tools does it work with?
Claude (the desktop app, claude.ai, the mobile app and Cowork), ChatGPT, Grok Bot (you just paste a prompt into a Grok Bot chat) and Muse by Meta. It also works with any other AI that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol), like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Antigravity: choose Other above. Pick yours and we'll show you the exact steps.
Which AI is the fastest to set up?
Grok Bot. You paste one prompt into a chat and it adds WhatsApp MCP for you, then walks you through linking WhatsApp. Custom MCP servers need a paid Grok plan. In Claude you add your link in the settings, and ChatGPT guides you through adding it.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There's no sign-up, email or password, which is why setup takes seconds. Your WhatsApp number is your account: it's created the moment you link WhatsApp, and linking the same number again later brings back your account and subscription.
How much does it cost?
You can use it for free. Every new number starts with 1 hour of full Pro, no credit card required. After that you stay on the Free plan: your AI can still read, summarize and search your chats and send text messages to people who've written to you, and the messages it sends end with “Sent via wa-mcp.com”. Pro removes that line and adds starting new conversations with anti-ban guardrails, sending files, polls, scheduling, and editing, reacting to and deleting messages, for US$9/month, US$7/month billed quarterly, or US$4/month billed annually. There's no daily message limit. When you're ready, ask your AI to subscribe and it will give you a secure Stripe checkout link.
Is my data private?
Yes. We store your messages only so your AI can search them, and we delete them automatically after 90 days. Your data is never sold and never used to train AI models. Keep in mind that the messages your AI reads are also processed by the AI provider you connected (like Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI or Meta), under their privacy policy.
Is my WhatsApp key secret? What if I lose it?
Yes. Your WhatsApp key works like a password: anyone who has it can use your WhatsApp, so don't share it. It's only shown once, when you generate it. If you lose it, generate a new one and link the same phone: your account and subscription carry over.
Can I use it in more than one AI tool?
Yes. Add the same WhatsApp key to all your AI tools, and they'll all use the same WhatsApp account. Don't have your key anymore? Generate a new one at wa-mcp.com, add it to the new AI tool and link the same phone number. Your account and subscription carry over, the AI tools you already connected keep working, and your chat history syncs again, which can take a few minutes.
Can I connect more than one WhatsApp number?
Yes. Generate a separate WhatsApp key for each number and add each one to your AI as its own connector with a different name, like "WhatsApp Personal" and "WhatsApp Work". Then just tell your AI which one to use. Each number needs its own subscription. Using the same number in several AI tools still counts as one.
How is this different from other WhatsApp MCPs?
Most WhatsApp MCPs are open-source projects you have to install, keep running on a server, and maintain whenever WhatsApp changes. We host everything for you, so it's always on, even when your computer is off. You just paste one link into your AI.
Can I use my existing WhatsApp number?
Yes. WhatsApp MCP connects to the number you already use, on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. There's no new number and nothing to migrate.
How do you connect to my WhatsApp?
The same way WhatsApp Web does: as a linked device. You link it by scanning a QR code or entering a pairing code, right from your AI chat. Other services resell Meta's Cloud API, which makes you use a new number and pay for every message sent and received.
Is this an official WhatsApp product?
No. WhatsApp MCP is an independent tool that connects your WhatsApp to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Muse. It isn't made, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI. It connects as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, using the number you already have.
Can my AI see conversations from before I linked?
Partly. Like with WhatsApp Web, when you link, WhatsApp shares some recent history with the new device. Your AI can read and search that history, plus every message after it, going back up to 90 days. How much history WhatsApp shares is up to WhatsApp.
Does it work with WhatsApp groups?
Yes. Your AI can read, search and reply in your group chats just like in individual chats.
Will my contacts know my AI sent a message?
No. Messages are sent from your own number, exactly as if you had typed them yourself.
Can this get my number banned?
To WhatsApp, this is a normal linked device, just like WhatsApp Web. Most bans come from sending too much, too fast, especially to people who never wrote to you, so WhatsApp MCP has anti-ban guardrails built in and no bulk sending, to keep your usage looking like a person, not a bot. Other WhatsApp tools send whatever the AI asks. No tool can fully remove the risk on an unofficial connection, so we can't guarantee your number won't be restricted or banned.
Can I still use WhatsApp normally on my phone?
Yes. Use your phone exactly as you always do. WhatsApp MCP runs in the background as a linked device and doesn't interrupt your chats.
Does it work when my phone is off?
Yes. Linked devices work independently, so your phone can be off, in airplane mode or offline.
Will it drain my battery or use my phone's data?
No. Everything runs on our servers, so it doesn't use your phone's battery or data.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Ask your AI to delete your account. It unlinks your WhatsApp, permanently deletes your data and cancels your subscription.
How do I disconnect WhatsApp MCP?
Ask your AI to unlink your WhatsApp, or remove the device under Settings → Linked devices in the WhatsApp app on your phone. You're in control of your number at all times.
